For the day

Black tie is what I love making most, but my job is to get it right for your day, not mine. An evening ballroom, an afternoon garden, a summer ceremony by the water, a winter one in a church: the setting, the time of day, the climate and the feel of the wedding all shape what you should wear and the cloth it's made from.

Whatever the day calls for, the aim is the same: clean lines, classic proportions, and a look that still feels right when you're going through the photographs years from now.

If you'd like, the rest of the week can be planned at the same time: the rehearsal dinner, the travel, the honeymoon.

How it works

01 - The consultation

(one to one and a half hours)

We talk through the wedding and what it calls for, choose your cloth, settle the details, and I take your measurements. At your home or office.

02 - The toile fitting

(about 20-30 minutes)

A test garment in inexpensive cloth, fitted on you and corrected before your own cloth is cut.

03 - The first fitting

(about 20-30 minutes)

Your garment, in your cloth. Most are ready to go home that day, well ahead of the wedding.

04 - A second fitting

(about 20-30 minutes)

If any final refinements are needed, one to two weeks later.

Get in touch 14 to 16 weeks before the wedding. The garment takes eight to ten, which leaves room for a second fitting if anything needs refining, well before the day. Twelve weeks is the minimum that works.

By the morning of the wedding, there's nothing left to decide. You put it on, and it fits.

Before your cloth is cut.

A full test garment is made in inexpensive fabric, fitted on you, marked up and corrected. Only then is your cloth cut.

Most made-to-measure skips this step and sorts out the problems with alterations afterward. It's the difference between something that was made for you and something that's been adjusted until it looks like it was.
